Before there were mp3's they made these things called LP's (for Long Players), also known as record albums. Up for auction is a pristine copy of the Beatles' 2nd album by The Beatles (of course!) This very rare copy has the infamous Capitol Records Rainbow Label. This LP was produced in 1964 and is in superb condition ( it appears as if it has never been played and I have owned it since the mid 70's without playing it myself as I have several copies). I can't guarantee that it was not played prior to my acquisition but there is nary a scratch or defect on it...absolutely mint condition! The cover was manufactured by two separate companies; the first made the blank cardboard record sleeve and the second produced the cover decal, which was then applied to the blank screen. It wasn't until the late 60's that the covers were printed directly on the sleeve. Now...what makes this album so special (aside from the fantastic music it contains). It is the label (as can be seen in the photos) that makes this LP unique. Capitol Records was jostling around with BMI and ASCAP credentials on the label. This is the third variation of the corrected label. All of the songwriting credits are listed as BMI but the East Coast Stereo label maker corrected the song title on side 2 track 2 from the mistaken "I Call You Name" to "I Call Your Name" which was all fine and dandy. However, they neglected to include the running time for this song and it is the only track on the album without the running time listed. This was corrected in the latter pressings of this seminal album. This is a first edition pressing as can be determined by the ST (for stereo) 2080 LP number in the upper right hand corner.

Track 2. I Call Your Name - Originally penned by Lennon/McCartney for Billy J. Kramer as B-side to 'Bad To Me'

Track 3. Please Mr. Postman - Overdub of take 9 over take 7 in July 1964

Track 4. I'll Get You - Original title 'Get You In The End'

Track 5. She Loves You - 'Yeah Yeah Yeah'
