The infamous "Yesterday"... and Today. The original cover showed the Fab Four surrounded by dismembered dolls and slabs of bloody meat. It became known as the "Butcher Cover" and was immediately pulled from the shelves and replaced by the lads sitting around and in Paul McCartneys case, in a suitcase truck. The butcher cover was pulled from circulation as it was considered too risqué for the public. Seems rather laughable now but was quite controversial in it's time. Not wanting to throw the albums away a new cover was glued on top of the old cover and the LP's were reshipped to retailers across the country. Up for auction here is a 4th State trunk cover. This was produced without the butcher cover underneath but is still an original 1960's edition. The front cover has a hint of ring wear, the spine is ok but not great, rear cover has miniscule ring wear and there is a 1 1/2 inch spilt in bottom right corner of cover. The LP itself is as good as the day it was manufactured. Not a scratch or flaw anywhere on the record or the label.
